42' Steel Carter/Maas Sloop Sailboat, go anywhere!

1968 Dutch built in rolled Cor-ten steel (no chines), built in the famous Maas Yard to Lloyd's offshore standards in Breskens for North Sea conditions. This is a " Rabbit II " design by Dick Carter (his recent book is available), which was very advanced for its time, and placed well in many offshore races, including 2nd place in the Fastnet and Newport to Bermuda. She went through a complete restoration in Maine in the 80s and was re-rigged with a taller, double spread rig. She is fast and very seaworthy, with many offshore passages/cruises under her belt. Draft is approx 7'2. She has been wonderful to myself and my family for over a decade and we sail her weekly. Set up for easy single handing.

She has been hauled every three years, most recently in 2020 at KKMI. The entire boat was painted at that time (3 coats Micron on the bottom). Running and standing rigging are in good condition. Reliable 4-107 with great compression - runs like a Singer, looks its age. High Amp alternator with a 2nd high amp spare onboard. Many spare parts, dual Racor system. Rebuilt Velvet drive and rebuilt clutch plate. Starter motor, heat exchanger replaced. Injection pump rebuilt by Santa Rosa Diesel.

Wheel or tiller steering (interchangeable)
Force 10 stove (new 2012)
Radar
VHF
2 Epirbs
ProSport battery charger.
Outstanding Simrad Autopilot (plus spares)
Hot water via engine exchanger
Lavac head with new pump and seals
Givens Life Raft - excellent condition but out of certification.
Primary bilge pump.
Secondary high volume 12 volt crash pump.
Windlass.
Rocna anchor and recent chain, plus Bruce stern anchor and large Danforth on rode/chain as secondary back up.
Dodger - excellent condition.
Bimini - serviceable and rebuildable (I have a guy in PacNW).
Sunbrella custom cockpit cushions in good shape - entire cockpit makes into a bed.

Harken mainsheet traveller.
Barient 32 self tailing headsail winches.
Slab reefing.
Spinnaker pole.
Island Planet 10 Oz mainsail, custom built in good condition.
North working jib in serviceable condition.
Sobstad Genoa in good condition.
Storm Trysail in excellent condition.

All sorts of assorted spares onboard, along with misc cruising kit and gear. I'll even include the Sextant. 14' folding Porta Bote (fits neatly on deck) with 4 stroke 6HP Mercury available for separate purchase.

Specs available upon request. I am keen to find her a new owner who recognizes what she has to offer and is going to maintain and sail her properly.

This boat will be offered absolutely on an 'as-is " basis. Not recommended for novice or first time buyers that need sea trials, surveys, and multiple inspections . Experienced sailor will realize the opportunity here. There is no survey available, so please don't ask.

All reasonable offers considered. Located in San Francisco Bay.

Only an inexperienced buyer would buy a 1960s steel boat without a survey, and probably audiogauging the boat. In any case, insurance will require it.

Not enough fiber in your diet?

"This boat will be offered absolutely on an 'as-is " basis. Not recommended for novice or first time buyers that need sea trials, surveys, and multiple inspections."

Please clarify, you will not allow a buyer to survey or inspect the boat?

I think they mean they don't have a survey to share with interested parties. That's how I read it, anyway.

@Caddy Shack, she looks great! I saw your post on L38 and was almost tempted...
