YoloSF, I'm quite familiar with your boat. Not interested.

Beneteau Oceanis 500. 1988/89. Perkins 4.236 original. Another 4.236 as a spare or replacement off an ex standby generator. Loaded with cruising gear, Cape Horn watermaker, Raymarine autopilot, AirX with carbon blades, Honda 2000, Caribe 9ft, Suzuki 15 hp, new Main. More details on sailboatlistings. For sale in Panama. Re: 42'-54' Bluewater Cruiser Monohull - Ready to Buy
SV Natalie, fascinating timing. Yesterday I just became aware of S/Y Jennifer which is a 1988 Oceanis 500 and have been circumnavigating around the world for 33 years.
Please private message me your contact info and I will setup a Zoom call to discuss.

Re: 42'-54' Bluewater Cruiser Monohull - Ready to Buy
The sweet spot is forming out to be 47'-49', as they seem to have enough room for 4 adults with scuba gear, and often sport a sail locker & a workbench area.
Reserving 44' for a Oceanis 44CC and 54' for an Amel Super Maramu or Formosa 54.
Budget has gone up a smidge.

SqPeg, is the hull balsa cored on this model? What is the draft?

Re: 42'-54' Bluewater Cruiser Monohull - Ready to Buy
rourkeh, the first photo shows wooden decks with white hull and the last photo shows fiberglassed decks with blue hull. Is it an error or did it go through a major redesign?
Do the interior wooden surfaces show the current condition or prior to the overall redo?
Looks like the stove is not on a gimbal. What would it take to convert?

Re: 42'-54' Bluewater Cruiser Monohull - Ready to Buy
The decks were teak but I had all the wood removed and went with a normal non skid coating A lot of work.
The stove could be removed or you could just install sliding pot holders. The stove and standard full sized oven cost over $5,000 plus installation and is WAY better than the Force 10 it replaced. I have crossed the Atlantic 3 times and it is almost impossible to cook on any kind of stove without standing there holding the pot the whole time.
The interior wood has been redone, all new varnish.

Thanks rourkeh. The blue hull is a deal breaker for me.
I hope you recoup at least some of your effort back. Sounds like a substantial project.

Re: 42'-54' Bluewater Cruiser Monohull - Ready to Buy
Check out
OceanCruisingClub.org
for sale section
There are a few boats that might fit
your requirements.
Only way into the club is by doing
a 1,000nm ocean passage, so the boats are
well kitted out,
Cheers

Re: 42'-54' Bluewater Cruiser Monohull - Ready to Buy
Time2Go,
I perused through the forum headlines a few times to locate the for sale section, and then saw this snippet: "Items for sale should still be posted under the members' section of the website".
Membership costs and I don't like the idea of forced membership just to peruse classifieds. Would be ok if they hid the contact info, but they don't even let the viewer to see what is posted.
How many boats have you seen that meet the criteria distilled in this thread?

Re: 42'-54' Bluewater Cruiser Monohull - Ready to Buy
Hi XtaSea
Go to the Website
Click on Menu , upper right
Click on “ News and Events”
scroll down to “For Sale”
Haven’t matched your exact criteria
with what is currently posted
That said , all are ocean going vessels
most have just finished long journeys
Hope this helps
Be aware of similar websites
There is also
OceanCrewLink
which might come up after just typing
a few letters in
You’re looking for
OceanCruisingClub
Cheers

Re: 42'-54' Bluewater Cruiser Monohull - Ready to Buy
Thanks Neil, that was a big help. There are indeed a couple of nice prospects; albeit either too small or too expensive for my budget. But I added this site on my radar to visit often.
