I followed the race almost daily. It’s very much about the boat prep and knowing when to push the boat and when to preserve it.

Best of luck.
Thanks. Another fellow competitor checked out all Cape Dory's on yachtworld so I've received some notes on most boats.

I had a major refit last July/August with new standing rigging by Glen Hansen, a well known Bay Area rigger. All new electrical, nearly 800 amp hours. Some new running rigging, all set up for single handing which I’ve done for 25 years. I had her all set up for a circumnavigation for a departure this Spring but bought a Passport 42
Her mast was made for racing out of Shileshole in Seattle. She has quite a history.
She’d be ideal for the GGR which was suggested that I do with her, but with the Passport I’ll be attempting the Five Capes solo nonstop starting from Bora Bora this fall.
You can see her listing at Rubicon Yachts out of Emeryville.

Sorry folks. Ignorant that Golden Globe is for 32-36 only. Had a senior moment.

Re: 32-36 ft full keel boat for Golden Globe Race

My Tashiba 36 is Listed For Sale at US $ 89,900 with Yacht World and Sailyard in Annapolis MD with Broker Rich Kahn 410-980-5096 or 410-268-4100 and is currently "on the hard" in Rock Hall MD. Please contact Rich Kahn for details including Aluminum mast, boom, reaching poles for both genoa and staysail.
My tashiba has a stand alone shower separate from the head. A four burner propane Broadwater stove is gimbaled . Included in the sale is both a storm jib and a storm main never used. A separate track is on the mast for the storm main sail.
A boom crotch is in good condition and it can be used to secure the main sail in a storm should you fly the storm main sail. A set of storm boards is included for the companionway door. A Switlick MD-6 life raft needs inspection and updating. The SSB is excellent.

Crazy requirement. That's too bad because the CG36 is pretty flippin' fast going in a straight line.

Is there anything interesting on there that I've missed? All I see from my range is a ferrocement endurance 35.

Kijiji certainly is the forum for boat sales in Ontario.
But this area is dominated by lightweight, fin keeled racer/cruisers. Not much with long keels around here. And too many "project" boats. This forum might actually be the best place to look....its like crowd sourcing boats for sale all over the world.

I'm not going to race the GGR, but I'm also looking for a 32-ish foot boat, something solid with shallow draft for the 1000 islands and Bahamas. Anyone out there have my next boat? Preferably located on Lake Ontario. I will likely spend a couple years on Lake Ontario getting ready for the big trip south. I only get to buy one boat, so hoping to get it right.

Kijiji sends me an update of new ads daily.

Re: 32-36 ft full keel boat for Golden Globe Race

Everyone has been very helpful and I appreciate it a lot. So here is where I stand:

Tashiba 36 - GGR Approved - Found 1 I would like to check out

Baba 35 - GGR Approved - Found a few that I would like to see

Union 36 - Awaiting original LOD details from Bob Perry (sailboat data says 36.67 but someone people say its 35.7- varying numbers all over the internet) - Found a few

Bayfield 36 - Very close to where I am - Found 1 interests me(not because its the first 36 footer I have seen with a bath tub)

Westsail 32 - very close to where I am (GGR Approved)- Found 1

I wish I could post the excel sheet of all the numbers.

The Tashiba 36 ratios are the most attractive and its rated highly.
Union 36 ranks number 2 but not sure if its 36
Bayfield 36 ranks number 3

I am going to take some time off from work to drive to all the places and take a look and do mini surveys before deciding which boats to get professionally surveyed. This is still a few weeks out, so if anyone finds more boats I should look at please reach out to me.

Lots of people sent their best wishes and I appreciate that a lot. I will keep everyone updated.

You should also consider the Lord Nelson 35, little sister to the Lord Nelson 41. She is a very solidly built and beautiful blue water cruiser with excellent motion offshore. See the write up in Bluewaterboats.org

Sail area / Displacement = 16.73
Full keel
