28 to 36 ft sailboat

Looking for a sailboat in decent condition up to $8000. Some work ok but not interested in a "project".
Great lakes location preferred.
We are cruisers not racers.

Doug, think you will need to visit the yacht clubs and marinas to see if they have notice boards and perhaps put up an advert yourself.

Re: 28 to 36 ft sailboat

One that size at that price should be too hard to find.

Here are some examples. Wrong area but gives you some idea of what boats that size are selling for...…

This guy would probably take $8,000

Re: 28 to 36 ft sailboat

Thanks for all the advice. I wish that S2 was closer cause it looks good. I have been around to the local marina but the distance is just too far to get to a lot on spec. I am driving 400 miles (round trip) to take a look at some I found on lake Ontario this weekend and will check out the boards along the way.

Re: 28 to 36 ft sailboat

Hey I’m way into that thread and this idea. Many boats around here can be priced by multiples of annual storage, which is 2 boat bucks for me (including launch, mooring, winter haul, storing). Check out this ‘74 Ranger 29 offered at 6.5 boat bucks.

There’s just a lot of people getting out of sailing for all the usual reasons. I know you’re going to find some sweet deals in that price range in your area. I’m in Chicago.

There are a number of great boats on Lake Ontario in that price range. I’d suspect they are near you too. Catalina 30s can be found. There’s a nice s2 on sodus IIRC price is abt $9000
