This unique 21’ plywood schooner is a Martha’s Vineyard classic with an incredible history. Built in 1971, wrecked near Edgartown, completely rebuilt and upgraded by an artisan with Vineyard connections in the early 2000s, and finally passed along in pristine condition to her current owner, who upgraded her further and maintained her for two summers of glorious sailing.

Pshrimp (the ‘p’ is silent), has an 8hp inboard Yanmar diesel engine with low hours; new sails with extra jib, all new running rigging, and a new gang of Dyneema standing rigging. Hand-carved boom gallows and eagle figurehead make her unique among her peers. Oak and mahogany trim, laminated wooden spars, and generous amounts of bronze hardware make her an eye turner anywhere she sails.

Included is a double-axle EZ Loader trailer with new hitch and brake cylinder. Trailer and boat both have current RI papers. This boat is a perfect daysailer/weekender for those who like to sail easy and relaxed. Drawing less than 30 inches with her centerboard up, she’s perfect for gunkholing into out-of-the way corners, and can easily sleep two in a surprisingly big cabin.
Hull material is marine ply with solid oak keelson and grounding shoe, cast iron centerboard trunk, and lead ballast. Oak framing and marine ply decks and house, mahogany trim in cockpit and toerails. Takes a day after launching to “take up,” but stays tight all season—she was kept on a mooring for the last two summers without incident. No leaks from above; no rot anywhere. Paint was all custom-mixed from Kirby’s of New Bedford, varnished with McCloskey’s Man o’ War spar varnish.
