1998 Atlantic 42 Catamaran

We are selling our 1998 Atlantic 42 catamaran sailboat. The Atlantic is an award winning Chris White design, known for its center cockpit in front of the pilot house.
It's set up for single handing, everything goes to the cockpit, has dual hydraulic steering inside and out.
It's fully outfitted with tons of gear including a sea anchor and drogue, brand new running rigging, and a full set of sails in good condition (spinnaker, asymmetrical spinnaker, genoa, main).

The boat has 2 double berths, and 3 singles.
The boat is currently dry docked at a boat yard in Hilo, Hawaii.

Sale price: $65,000, we currently have a local offer

Re: 1998 Atlantic 42 Catamaran

Ok, this is gonna generate a ton of interest. Awesome boat, ridiculous price and just one picture!
Do you have to sell by end of the month?
Does it float?

Thanks

If it was state side I'd be all over this! All the good deals have been in Hawaii lately.

This is some type of scam. 65K for that boat is not right. Buyers beware!

Re: 1998 Atlantic 42 Catamaran

Brings up lots of questions. why only 2 pictures? Where is the boat located. Why even post the for sale if there is already an offer on the boat? (Sort of insulting to the prospective buyer) If the price is truly $65k I'd be suspicious. How much is wrong with it and are the issues structural?

That’s close to &30k less than a recent Florida sale with moisture in the forward beam!

UPDATE:

UPDATED POST:

I can no longer edit my original post. I was probably too hasty in posting and did not give as much information on the boat as I should have.

Yes the boat does float.

We based our price on valuation we got from a broker for the condition it is in. I chose the Fair-Poor category, given the fact that it does not have a starboard engine. Also, the launch is a bit involved and would require renting a crane to step the mast. It was home built and sailed to Hawaii. We bought it from the original owner/builder.

And since it’s located in Hawaii it’s off the beaten track for most people.

That said, once the additional engine is installed it will be ready to sail, but like any boat you’d want to check all the systems.

The paperwork is all in order.
This is not a scam! We just want to sell the boat quickly, we do not have the means to put any more money into it.

Higher offers are always welcome. We know these boats are worth a lot. If anyone has ever dreamed of a Chris White but can't afford to spend a half million or more on a boat...

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Re: 1998 Atlantic 42 Catamaran

I posted an update.
We had not previously advertised so we want to get the boat out there before making a decision about selling.
The price is truly $65K, for reasons outlined in my update.

Ok, this makes more sense now. The boat is rough and tucked away.

Good luck with the sale.

Is this a home build can you give information of hull construction (fibre glass epoxy composite or a wrc strip plank construction .What damage has the boat had over the years and if structural was it repaired and inspected by qualified surveyors. What are the major things that need replacing and what is the estimated cost as you state you cannot put anymore money into the boat and need a quick sale.

I’m 99% sure I’ve seen this boat listed at sometime in the past. Maybe a year ago or so?
