1996 Dean 400 catamaran
It feels as though I've given up but after losing a kidney in 2017 to cancer it has only worsened and I can no longer follow our dream.
Since 2008 this boat has been our link to freedom, used primarily as a family holiday platform for 2 to 4 months a year, mostly in the Bahamas, until when we planned on becoming full time bums and retiring right around now. As a result the vessel is well equipped for open water and live aboard. In 2009 we sailed from Grenada to Florida and have been steadily upgrading ever since. I no longer possess the strength to step and un-step the mast to get into the safe haven that we have used the last 3 years and I have no desire to burden my wife this task after I've moved on.
I`ve tried to upload some pics although I'm in Canada for treatment and the boat is in Florida. I will update this whenever possible.
Price is $165K usd. not to be exchanged in US waters.
I do not have the energy to deal with tire kickers so please make serious inquiries only.
The boat has 1 original 2gm20 engine that is totally rebuilt and starts just by thinking of it, and the starboard engine has been replaced with a 3ym20 engine with 2 new SD25 sail drives in 2016.
watermaker
bank of trojan batteries
solar charge controller
solar panels
1000w wind generator and controller
surge protection
galvanic isolator
3 way fridge
freezer
oven
4 burner stove
All fairly new Raymarine instruments and autopilot with blue tooth radome
vhs with ais to chartplotter
2 queen staterooms, 1 double
1 manual pump, 1 electric pump and 1 composting heads
Many other things
If seriously interested then pleas call at 239-895-2559, leave a message and I will get back to you. Viewing will have to be carefully arranged as I am now pretty much married to various hospitals.
Thanks for looking

Good price. Shame I do not have the funds for it.
Sad story. Hope you find a good buyer soon. Good luck!!

Bump. Make an offer while I still breath. We love our boat. First year in many we couldn't head to the Bahamas for winter.

Re: 1996 Dean 400 catamaran
I guess sitting so long unattended is doing the boat no favors and I'm never going to get healthy so it has to go. I know exactly what I would need to do in order to get lost in the Bahamas on her if I was healthy and would definitely do so but at this point I can only dream of it and remember the ventures we have already had.
Make an offer.

Sorry to hear that cannot fulfil the liveaboard part! I own a Dean 400 and would not trade it for the world. Has more space than many 45's, solid, nimble and kindly. One of Peter Dean's best examples..

Re: 1996 Dean 400 catamaran
I'm in the process of selling my house, to buy a boat, finally and reading about your situation, I had this idea.
If you haven't sold it in the next couple of months, which is doubtful, but If you haven't sold it, and you still think you need to sell it,
maybe I could clean it up, and work on it for you,( I am a retired electrician, and before moving from the Chicagoland area, I worked on boats for a couple years.
In exchange, I could live aboard, if it's not on the hard, or work towards getting her back in the water, or whatever, and I could also look around the area and do some boat shopping. I'm not exactly sure what my options will be at that point either, as far as Covid goes, and traveling blah, blah, blah.
it's just an idea.
Take good care.

Re: 1996 Dean 400 catamaran
Sorry all for seemingly ignoring you, I am surely not. I can't seem to sign into the forum on my phone for some reason, it says thanks for signing in but does not do so.
My wife and I are on the boat right now and will be for another week or 2 at the most as I have to return to Canada for a CT scan and Covid vaccination shot. I suggest texting or calling and leaving a message and I'll call back as soon as I get it.
Price has dropped, has to sell.

Boat is located between Stuart and Indiantown on the St Lucie canal in Florida.
