1988 Irwin 54' Sloop

54' Irwin Sloop
  • Year: 1988
  • Price: US$ 260,000

The Irwin 54 is one of the most spacious cruising sailboats for her size ever built. Interior volume and deck space is exceptional. Sweet Dreams was built for a knowledgeable sailor who wanted a cruising sailboat with room and comfort, without sacrificing sailing performance. This vessel being offered has a mast 5’ taller than the standard sloop rig and a deeper keel for increased sailing performance to windward and open ocean sailing.

Sweet Dreams has a walk-in, fully covered cockpit and is easy to sail with a minimum number of people as control line can be served from the cockpit. She is an ideal sailing cruising vessel that is blue water ready having just completed over 20,000 nautical miles around west coast and South Pacific. Her spacious accommodations are also very desirable for full time living aboard.

In October 2016, a navigation error caused her to go aground and insurance declared a total construction loss. However, survey by Lords of London confirmed no structural damage was sustained. The current owner began an extensive refit in March 2017 in New Caledonia. A full range of updates and upgrades has been completed and the vessel relaunched in July 2018.

The refit included:

Electrical wiring and panel
Plumbing lines, fixtures, supply pumps, macerator pumps
