Introduction
Vixen is a 41 ft Sigma 41 built by
Marine Projects, Plymouth,
England, in 1986 with a Certificate of
Hull Construction and designed by David Thomas who designed many
racing and
offshore sailboats. Approximately 100 Sigma 41s were built with most having a deep
draft and
teak decks. The original owner deleted the
teak decks and later had a keel-centerboard installed which was done in
Florida under the supervision of a
surveyor thus giving a
draft of 5 ft up to 9.5 ft board down.
Previous owners upgraded and maintained Vixen in a first condition as very knowledgeable sailors.
The prior owner painted Vixen Stars and Stripes blue along with the topsides painted tan and off-white. Air-conditioning and a 5.5 kw
generator were installed along with carbon fiber laminate
sails. The owner was very sucessful in local regattas.
Vixen has had very light use with no accidents, chartering, live aboards, with most sailing in
Florida and the
Bahamas.
Vixen is very sound with excellent
sails and a low hour
Perkins diesel with only 1550 hours since major
overhaul. She is ready to go cruising!
Extensive
equipment and spares are included as is a
dinghy, 4hp
outboard, two stand up touring paddle boards with covers and paddles.
Vixen can be seen at the Key Biscayne Yacht Club at any time.
