Re: 1982 Southern Cross 35

I installed a Cape Horn on my Lord Nelson, 20 ton double ender. I sailed up from Florida Lake Worth via the Gulf Stream solo to Morehead City non-stop. The Cape Horn performed perfectly and with less 'hunting' than my electric Raymarine.
It's a winner !!

In my experience, for sale ads that are coy about price are invariably very overpriced.

He's not being coy. He posted the price when asked and it's on the website.

I concur with expressing my anger about price shadiness.

From the FAQ of this thread.

Your ad should include ALL of the following:
Price
Location
Detailed description
...
Where should is used to indicate obligation.

Since I already had a web site set up to sell my boat, I thought I would post a for sale ad here that would just direct you to go to my web site. I didn't even think about the price or location and didn't realize there are rules to be followed for posting boats for sale...now I do. I certainly wasn't trying to hide anything, be coy or shady.

Re: 1982 Southern Cross 35

IMOP I think we should throw out a drogue here on this post.
He posted a link with more info than most brokers will provide. Granted a price should have been posted. When asked he confirmed the price that was posted on the website.
He has answered every question straight forward and clearly.
I have messaged him about several details and he has answered them quickly and completely.
I am not interested in this boat I do like Southern Crosses From the way he seems to have it outfitted it appears to be ready to sail away.
He errored by not posting price. I think labeling it shady is a stretch.
If you're interested in his boat engage him. Make him an offer.
Trying to impun his integrity IMOP seems forum unfriendly.
Maybe start new thread addressing your concerns.
Let's help him get his post back on topic SALE of his boat.

Re: 1982 Southern Cross 35

Gee gentlemen. He gives lots of information on the boat and a link as to where there is even more. Don't you have better things to do than bitch about not listing the price on the first post? If you are a serious about buying a boat like this, then you'd look at the complete listing. If you've got nothing better to do with your time, then complain.

BTW, it sure looks like a very nice boat and based on my somewhat limited knowledge of boat pricing/value, it looks like a pretty good deal as well.

Re: 1982 Southern Cross 35

My comment can be considered thread hijacking and maybe it should be deleted. It isn't about FSmith and his 1982 Southern Cross 35 ad, It's about the earlier comment of price-hiding-coy-overpriced and the rules of the forum. The price omission is a recurring happening and sooner or later some express their built up frustration and a 'hear hear' crowd forms. Please don't take it personal. Your ad/post is the wrong place to discuss this, since it won't benefit the forum by having the discussion hidden in a specific boat 4sale post. Nice boat btw.
