As Annapolis is coming up to its prime season, I agree with whomever suggested that you take her to Annapolis and re-market for a Spring/Summer sale.

If you've redone the interior varnish, a new set of pictures in bright sunlight, not the dark nighttime pictures previously provided (of course, she was in Annapolis, you would have enough foot-traffic viewing the boat in person that pictures would not be so crucial...)

Good luck,

Agree. I live near Annapolis and two friends have bought boats in last 6 months and have had to compete in a seller friendly busy used boat market. You’d have sold your boat easily last summer for 10s of Ks more than you are currently listing for and I imagine this spring is no different

Re: 1982 Cheoy Lee 44' total refit

I am aware that I could sell my boat a lot quicker if I got it back to the U.S. but it is a long way from St Maarten to Florida and I can not make the time to get it up there. Covid-19 is an issue with travel as well. I am starting to get a lot of interest in the last week so maybe the buyers are coming out of the woodwork.
I just watched another Cheoy Lee in the Carolinas sell for the same money and it was no where nears as nice so it is definitely a geographical problem.

Great- hope it sells! If not would hiring a delivery skipper for a relatively easy sail at least to FL be worth it?

Shadow I appreciate your interest in the boat but I need to find a buyer and the traffic from this forum is all "experts", and "dreamers" so I have stopped paying attention here and focused on the leads from YachtWorld. If you want to buy my boat I am sure you will find a way to get on a plane and come and see it, and I'll be happy to show it to you then.

Hi rourke, I fully appreciate your stance as well as I've purchased and sold several boats in my personal life. As you know traveling is a huge burden, especially internationally. I was only going by our last communications as you were thinking of sailing her to Florida. I was happy to drive from the west coast to Florida as I'm still trying to avoid air travel, if at all possible. I was also waiting for the latest photos of your work as your boat is still not complete as far as I know.. Would love to see those promised updates, but also, I know that you are working on 2 boats at the same time. No rush on my end, but still interested.. Chat soon

Beautiful boat at an amazing price. Whoever closes the deal on this boat (assuming the condition is as represented) will enjoy a lifetime of sweet sailing.

Hatches finished and installed. Look good with the new beige non skid.
Now on to refinish the rest of the teak trim.

Re: 1982 Cheoy Lee 44' total refit

And seriously what would a delivery to the east coast cost? Boats in Annapolis area are under contract as soon as they are listed this spring. I have a friend who is looking and can’t find a boat to buy for example. You could probably sell for a lot more up here which possibly could cover your delivery costs and then some.
Far fetched I know.

Re: 1982 Cheoy Lee 44' total refit

Moving the boat to the U.S. is not the only issue. I have a large motor yacht here in St Maarten to look after as well so I would need to leave that unattended. Then there is the question of where to leave the sailboat until it sells, who will show it to buyers. Even if I deliver my sailboat to Florida I would need to turn around and come back to the Caribbean basically abandoning the boat until it sells. What if there is a storm headed to Florida?
So not that easy to just deliver to U.S.
I have been working on the boat here and gotten a lot done, almost finished with the exterior work. Put in another 2 hundred hours worth of work in the last 6 months, getting closer to the boat being 100%. I think I'll wait it out and see what happens, someone will see what a great deal my boat is and they can get on a plane and come here and buy it and sail it back to U.S. if they want.
No matter what I do the price is going up the more work I complete.
I can wait.
I did a search on Yacht World for boats 42' - 45' under $100k and there is nothing out there in North America with the extensive amount of new equipment that my boat has on it. Not even close. I can't even find a nice boat for sale with A/C, generator, water maker, under $100k. Never mind a complete high quality refit that cost over $100k.
