Re: 1982 Cheoy Lee 44' total refit
Just reduced the price by $10,000 to new asking price $99,900.
Owner spent over $100,000 on refit and improvements with out including the original cost of the boat purchase.
Really good buy at this price.

Re: 1982 Cheoy Lee 44' total refit
Beautiful! Admire your firm determination to do the best work possible. Can the transmission be rebuilt where you are? Does the transmission problem dictate a full replacement of the transmission? With the hull being 1982 vintage, are blisters an issue?
Please keep me informed... Cena1948@icloud.com

Re: 1982 Cheoy Lee 44' total refit
Clutch in transmission is gone. Don't trust the workmanship down here in St Maarten so easier to just replace entire transmission. The Hurth units are not very expensive and only last 2,000 hours, so good idea for new owner to start with new one.
Zero blister problems with hull, these boats never had issues.

Re: 1982 Cheoy Lee 44' total refit
Great work, but unfortunately ALL of the interior wood is sadly in need of sanding and varnishing - and there's a LOT of it.
Whoever buys this boat, be prepared to spend your spare time in the first two years doing maintenance on all of the interior wood.
Also, what is the pock-marking underneath the white paint in the bulkhead/headliner above... looks like the nav station? (Last page of the Yachtworld pics). Was/is there a deck leak? Or stanchions/chainplates nearby in need of replacing and rebedding?

Re: 1982 Cheoy Lee 44' total refit
The interior wood is about half way done, I will complete before sale.
The "pock marks" are on the formica/ply I used to replace the old laminated wood where the port lights go. I drilled small cut outs for the clamps to hold the new wood in place and then covered them and some water has weeped in and gotten the formica wet. Luckily it is where the large plexiglass windows are so it will be cut out when finished.
It would be nice to have fewer armchair quarterbacks and more people who are actually looking to buy a boat and have some $$$$$.
