1978 CT47 cutter-rigged ketch Kaufman-Ladd design

Vessel Overview

The CT47 is a classic cutter-rigged ketch sailboat designed by the renowned team of Kaufman and Ladd. This vessel is known for its unique status as the only racer-cruiser model in the CT47 lineup, combining performance-oriented design with comfortable liveaboard amenities.

Currently on the hard and awaiting repairs, this CT47 presents an excellent project opportunity for the right buyer. With its solid fiberglass construction and spacious layout, it has tremendous potential to be transformed into a stunning, bluewater-capable classic yacht. 5 New Sails

Kaufman-Ladd Design

Kaufman and Ladd were celebrated naval architects who were renowned for creating vessels that balanced speed and seaworthiness. The CT47 embodies this design philosophy, featuring a hull optimized for offshore performance without sacrificing interior volume and comfort.

Condition and Restoration Needs

The CT47 is in need of some work before it can return to the water. The hull and deck are in overall good condition, but the bottom will require a fresh paint job. Additionally, the keel requires repairs.

This presents an excellent opportunity for a buyer looking to restore a classic yacht to their own specifications. With the right expertise and investment, this CT47 can be brought back to its full glory as a capable racer-cruiser.

Interior and Systems

The interior layout features a spacious main salon, forward V-berth cabin, aft master stateroom, and two marine heads. The galley is well-equipped for extended voyages.

The mechanical systems, including the 80HP diesel engine, will need to be thoroughly inspected and serviced as part of the restoration process. The electrical and navigation equipment will also require upgrading to modern standards.

Location and Pricing

The CT47 is located in St. Croix, USVI. The asking price for this project boat is $65,000. Negotiable. Flights from Fort Lauderdale, FL airport is readily available, with round-trip flights typically costing $200-300.
