Re: 1975 Ranger 33 for Reasonable Offer
SKIPPER, Everythyiung I read fans my interest in y7our vesse,, but I cannot manage to iknvest as much time away from Florida as a proper completion of her would require, so I must begin to look elsewhere ,closer to homee base.
it's a shame because she has so much to offer us. Good Luck to you with the sales effort..&b generally,

Re: 1975 Ranger 33 for Reasonable Offer
I appreciate your interest and kind words As time continues to pass, I'm completing some of the big interior projects. Last weekend I scrapped the hull side and installed new vinyl liner In the next couple weeks she should be near "finished" as far as the mentioned projects go and I will have sailing videos up.
For anyone afraid to make an offer:
Also, while I really do think the boat is worth close to $13k (or offer that is close), the reality is I don't want to sit on 'er for a year while I wait to get it A years slips rent, maintenance (it would need to be hauled and painted next spring), insurance, taxes, doc renewal, etc. is at least $4k
I was pondering on this last night. I want to move the boat sooner than later. Not only does it free me up to play with my new boat, but I'll probably come out ahead financially.
Do I hear $9k? $8k? . . .$7k. . .

Re: 1975 Ranger 33 for Reasonable Offer
An observation:
CF gets so many threads from folks who want to get into sailing with little money, looking for decent boats at reasonable prices. They are directed to Craigs list, gumtree and charity dumps... all resources with lots of really bad boats as their primary residents (that's why they are listed in such venues).
And here we have a apparently pretty good example of a well known marque, offered by someone with whom we have at least a distant familiarity and at a very attractive price... and no one is jumping on it??? what gives here?
Someone is missing out on a pretty good deal, i think!

Re: 1975 Ranger 33 for Reasonable Offer
I believe I saw you going out Little Creek a while back maybe last weekend or the one before.
Does this sound right? If I remember correctly, it would have been late afternoon as I was coming in
I noticed that figure you have on the bow.
If so, did you just motor around a while or sail?
Btw, if you cannot sell the boat yourself, you may try and contact the guy Ron at Bay Harbor. He has a good rep locally and has sold tons of boats, but he is choosy on which boats he will sell

+1. An R33 is a good boat that sails well...used to teach aboard one.

Yeah, it should sail well with a 26' plus waterline and only about 9.5' beam. It ought to slice through the waves quite nicely here

For comparative reference my Hobie 33 has an 8' max beam on deck and much narrower at WL...its a rocket ship. The R33 is no rocket ship, but it does sail well and is well behaved in heavier conditions (the H33 is not!).

Yeah that H33 is pretty much for racing only or just going fast.
Folks of today may see a cruising boat with 9.5' beam to small but some still like that.
My boat has an 8' beam also so I'm used to the heel and small cabin.

I'll keep the broker in mind, thanks!
No, I haven't been out and about in the bay since last October

Re: 1975 Ranger 33 for Reasonable Offer
The boat is sold! Listing to sold in what, 7 or so weeks, has got to be a record for an old sailboat
While I didn't get what I wanted, we dickered and I got more than initially offered. Very, VERY, VERY hard to turn away an eager buyer with close to enough money. . .the difference was worth the sense of relief of not having to be responsible for 2 boats!
The seatrail went perfectly. It was the best sail I've ever had on the boat Afterwards, I accepted my demotion from fleet admiral to captain with dignity and honor and relief
Best of luck to the new owners if they happen to make their way to CF!
