I am selling my 1966 Buchan 37-foot
sloop, Eos, currently listed at $17,500 with Pop Yachts. I know the
price is too high, and it has come down from its original asking
price of $25,000 in February 2024. The
boat is USCG documented and located in Scappoose,
Oregon. The Universal M25xp auxiliary is practically new and has 82 hours after the
rebuild. The
boat is turnkey, although it desperately needs a new
mainsail and some extensive cosmetics.
Last November, I hauled the boat and replaced all the through-hulls and valves with properly needed and bolted seacocks, replaced the
propeller, prop-shaft, and cutlass bearing, and
bottom paint. The boat sits in fresh
water, so the major
work below the waterline is complete. I also replaced the two group 27
batteries — sealed and strapped per ABYC standards.
What is needed:
The
head needs to be reconnected to the discharge seacock with a new hose or a small blackwater
holding tank so that it can be used in protected waters (everywhere). The
deck was primed when I bought the boat in 2022, but I was not able to
paint it. Now, the primer is bad, and it should be sanded, reprimed, and painted.
Eos is a great boat, but I cannot afford two, as I have a fourty-five foot
steel cutter that is my main boat. She is a great
classic plastic and would make a great race-boat for weekend
beer cans, comfortable for a couple to
cruise the San Juans for a week, or be a 37 foot boat that you can keep for two years to prove to your
insurance that they should insure you on a boat up to 47 feet.
I am open to all offers, so let me know what you think this boat should be listed at to sell.
