Thoughts on this type of construction? Problems with insurance? How safe is this boat?

It’s typically an add on process to add a glass sheath to a wooden boat. There was a book written on it by Alan Vaitses.

It’s a reasonable way to get more life out of a wooden hull and reduce the effort involved in upkeep. And more life they got! 1963. Wow!! Cool

Forget the insurance. If you need it for a marina and for operating the boat you just need liability. Self insure the hull and be responsible with your boat.

With this boat, you’ll want to check the fresh water coming from rain as the primary source of issues. And of course make sure to have someone who understands wooden boats involved in the buying process and/or survey.

When I first started looking for my first boat in 1975, I looked at one of these. The fiberglass wasn’t an add-on. They were supposedly built that way from the factory.
