Leopard Keel

Hello everyone, I want to start out by announcing my purchase of a 2008 Leopard 40. I sailed mostly motored it from Fort Lauderdale to Beaufort NC over the past 2 weeks. I had the boat hauled out of water and want to address a few things. My question is what are the round circles in my keels? are there keel bolts or something there? seem to be filled with sealant. Im going to get bottom painted and install some new electronics, spend some time finding where stuff is.

Re: Leopard Keel

Yes, the keels are bolted on. I have a 2008 L40 3 cabin. The keels are designed to break away if run aground and not hole the boat. The downside is they aren't designed to just sit around on their keels like some other catamarans. A lot of discussion will turn up if you search here and other places like https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/LeopardCat/info.

Congratulations on the purchase.

Yup join the leopard forum on yahoo, that’s where most of us are [emoji3]. I have a October 2009 model Leopard 40. One of the last 40’s before the change to the L39 in early 2010.

Re: Leopard Keel

Those are plugs hiding the keel bolts. Also don't forget to join the Leopard Owner's Group on Facebook
