wet or dry storage recommendations west coast florida

We are leaving our 44 foot, 5'8" draft sailboat for 6 months this summer on the west coast of florida. We are looking for the best hurricane and security protection for our boat. We are considering on the hard and wet storage at this time. Any specific recommendations on locations so we can leave her with the least worries. Cost less important than security. Thanks for all recommendations.

Go up the Okeechobee Waterway to one of the storage yards if you can clear the bridges. Glades Boat Storage is one, there is another at Indiantown Marina nearer the East Coast. There are also some inexpensive docking opportunities behind people's homes in some side channels, but that requires hunting around a bit and asking locals.

just a thought but can it be stored along the canal to Okechobee or in the lake? No storm surge there. I don'g know abOut hauling.


This place is accessed by a lock. Port Charlotte. The waterway is fresh. You can work on your boat DIY. They store outside or covered and you might be able to tie to the warf but I would never leave my boat unattended in water for 6 months.

I have a 62 foot mast. The yard off port charlotte looks good. Can 5'8" get in to the yard at all american?

I don't know the local draft data. The best is to ask when you call to make arrangements. you might have to approach the lock at flood.

If you hit High Tide going into the lock, you are golden from the lock to the marina
