Yea when you arrive just anchor up behind Lynyard Cay, it will be a long day and there's a nice spot just off a pretty beach. The next day catch the tide and go into Little Harbor. Great place to kick back and have a rum drink, don't miss it. We're 4'2" and it seemed we only saw about 6ft going in there a couple hours before high tide. If there's a ground swell (greater than 6ft) Little Harbor Cut is no cake walk, please be careful. I think staying a little south of most plotters routes, favoring Tom Curry Point side going in is better. The boats I've seen getting rolled out were coming in too close to Lynyard Cay. Settled weather it's a piece of cake.

Re: Nassau to Abacos via Spanish wells?

Can anyone comment on decent weather to go from Spanish wells to Abacos ? I see 3-4 foot waves. Is that as good as it gets out there in open ocean? Winds from south or southeast are good?
Thank you

I've gone across that stretch in near flat calm conditions. I've also gone across in 8-10ft waves with a short period. Much above 5-6ft and the cuts into the Abacos get dicey.

Re: Nassau to Abacos via Spanish wells?

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I hope you all have an opinion for an approach to Nassau. I've been looking at the Explorer charts and they don't have a cut designated as best to pass through from the North. We are leaving in the morning from Sandy Point on the south end of Abaco. There is a forecast wind of 20 to 25 knots straight from the east. Should be a nice sail. We are heading to Palm Cay. Which cut would you recommend?

Palarran: what route did you end up following to Palm Cay? We’re likely doing the reverse in a month or so.

It turned out to be ridiculously easy. We came through Hanover Sound. We are going back through there tomorrow to head to Spanish Wells and then on to Abacos. I have high hopes for Wahoo and Dorado tomorrow. You will like Palm Cay.

I don't know your route, but we really enjoyed Cape Eleuthera. Great spot and central to Exumas, Eleuthera, Cat, etc. Have fun.
