Moorings in Florida - News?

Good morning all.

Anyone know of any good mooring fields in Florida on the Atlantic side?

We're moored in St Augustine right now in the Municipal Marina and we're absolutely in love with the place but our time is almost out. We're thinking about anchoring when we lose our ball but we've only had our Leopard 44 for a month and have no real experience with anchoring. I also haven't' really tested the anchor yet.

Covid is shutting things down so we're looking for a new spot. Anything on the East Coast like St Augustine with a solid mooring field and easy access to the Atlantic?

Just go around to Salt Run. Plenty of mooring there. Not sure they're really maintaining than properly as they don't like to rent them these days it seems. Should be illegal as they stole all the good anchorage to put those moorings in and they are 2/3 empty last 10 years

Don’t go to the Bahamas they are in lockdown. We are in the Spanish Virgin Islands and wear ordered by an officer of t Federal DNR “Do Not Leave Your Ship!”

Re: Moorings in Florida - News?

Hey Exchange,

Here's a catamaran couple's helpful tips and pointers on anchoring specific to cats:

https://catamaranguru.com/education/...aran-anchoring

Also a review of anchors that work well and why:

https://catamaranguru.com/education/...for-catamarans

Be alert to your cat's windage.

Hope you find this helpful - and good luck!

I'm sure a bunch of us would rather be where you are - able to do some coastal hops and anchoring off - instead of landbound and locked-down.

Stay where you are,,,,,,hard to find other moorings as most are run by local governments and they are closed for business. Plus, under the Covid regulations your current landlord cannot evict you!
