Diesel is more expensive than gasoline in the USA. It used to be cheaper but our government decided that it needed some special treatments so now it's more expensive.

which works out to US $4.48 per US gallon

we were in Tahiti in 2011 and referring to the tax refund for fuel, we could only get the refund When We Were LEAVING the country. Took some to time to get the refund but after being there for 3 months it helped.

Gas in my neck of the woods in hanging out around $4.00 a gallon and diesel is around $3.20 a gallon. These prices are at the local automotive gas stations. I have no idea what the cost is at the local fuel docks as I rarely ever visit them.

That was true for a few years, but since the beginning of 2015 there has been a reversal, and diesel has been the same as, or slightly cheaper than, regular gas, in the US :

In California, diesel has been a lot cheaper, due to the higher price of the special gasoline formulation for CA (the diesel is not special to CA).

Yes I believe this has been due to a shortage of refining capacity for California's special gasoline formulation.

I drive a diesel Passat TDI. $2.79 per gallon to fill up the other day! Regular was $3.29.

You can obtain a Duty Free Fuel Certificate in French Polynesia after you have cleared in. You no longer have to wait till you check out. Diesel is about US$0.80/liter now.

Those are not the numbers I am seeing in my area of NC. I just filled up the truck at $2.85 a gallon which has been the price for many months. One station actually went up to $2.99 for some reason but is now down to $2.79. For a good decade, I have been consistently paying more for diesel than regular gas.

This might be changing due to over production of diesel fuel in the Middle East, China, and a lessor extent, in the US. I will believe it when I see it at the pump.

That was my experience 12 months ago...... just make sure you have photocopies of your exemption to hand over when you are buying,

$0.73 a liter in The Philippines for diesel. $0.83 for reg gasoline.

I bought a half tonne of diesel fuel in Denmark a couple of months ago and paid something like 13 DKK per liter, which is about €1.75. Expensive, and far more expensive than gas station diesel, but this is guaranteed free of biofuels. I would pay whatever to keep that crap out of my tank. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find diesel fuel without bio, in Europe.
