Re: Chesapeake/ Delaware Bay

Don't know about the lower Chesapeake in VA...

But for the shortest route... Solomons, MD makes a decent stop... as does Annapolis... and then Chesapeake City Or Delaware City on the C&D are each OK for an overnight stop.

Can't think of any other place on Delaware Bay en route Cape May... unless you want a short side trip to Lewes, DE, which is nice.

Re: Chesapeake/ Delaware Bay

I made that trip quite a few years ago. Stayed in St. Michael's, Rock Hall, Chesapeake City on the C & D, and then anchored just inside the mouth of the Cohansey River, 1/2 way down the Delaware Bay norther side and had dinner at the Bait Box Restaurant up river. Then on to Cape May the next morning. Keep an eye peeled for fast moving freighters on the Delaware, especially coming from the aft, big wake surprised me.

Re: Chesapeake/ Delaware Bay

On the way up the lower bay there are some nice quiet Anchorage’s on the western shore rivers. Piankatank river and the side creeks off Mobjack Bay. All with deep water. If you can take a few mile detour there is a nice city marina in Yorktown Virginia. Walk to Restaraunts etc.
