Apalachee Bay Passage suggestions

I am currently anchored near Panama City, Fl., awaiting crew and a window to cross the Apalachee Bay. I can't figure the best place to jump off to and from. I'm assuming it's Apalachecola to Tarpon Springs? Please correct me if I'm wrong. There are many passes that may are not be passable per AC to jump off from. Is the Gulf County Canal Inlet a good jump off or even open? I'm trying to minimize the Gulf passage so prefer not to go from Panama City. Any help is appreciated.

Go to hang out behind Dog island and then cross from there. Done that a few times myself and actually it’s no big deal from PC either, go to Tarpon Springs or Clearwater, it’s an overnighter, no big deal.
Leaving from Dog does make it a little shorter.

If shallow water and passes concern you go to Clearwater.

What kind of boat?
