Right on the website it states they use the Weather Research and Forecasting Non- hydrostatic Mesoscale Model (WRF/NMM).

This is a relatively new model compared to GFS and ECMWF (and others) which are more commonly used.

Essentially these are all numerical forecasting models. As George Box stated - "all models are wrong; some are useful."

I'm not familiar with Theyr, but it looks like a Windy type clone, with ability to import GRIB files and overlay them on navigational charts.

I used Theyr for the 30 day free trial offered by Raymarine - its supposed it overlay GRIB on your MFD chart plotter. I gave up after 2 weeks - it was very user unfriendly and I found downloading my own GRIBS was way better. It still buil in to Liaghthouse software on the Raymarine but not for me !
