Sea Weather almanac

Hello Salt-necks,
I don't know whats the correct name for what I'm looking for. I'm looking for charts that tells me the expected wind directions according to the seasons. Means... not a forecast on wind and weather more only expected wind directions. So I can decide... ok from January to April it is mostly good to sail from Darwin to Singapor (this is only an example it is probably not correct) Can someone tell me the correct name for that or point to a web site?

Re: Sea Weather almanac

What you’re looking for all called “pilot charts”.

https://msi.nga.mil/Publications/APC

These provide an average picture of historic wind and current information by month. They are biased low because mariners typically try to avoid bad weather. There is also some debate about whether the historical records on which they are based are still valid, but they do still provide a good general picture.

You may also want to look at Ocean Passages for the World, a government publication that provides similar information or the commercial books by Jimmy Cornell that are based on these datasets and focused on small boat cruising.

ocean-passages-for-the-world (older versions have more sail and low-powered motor vessel information).

Jimmy Cornell - World Cruising Routes (he has several other books that go along with this one)
