It good to hear you have discovered who is to blame for all the death and destruction of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. Pretty typical for a wacko liberal. (not implying all liberals are wacko)

Awful for the islands that get hit twice in a row.

I see about half the business installs of storm plywood using a numbering scheme in spray paint so they can put them back up more easily.

Perhaps you should read the forum rules. A critical thinking course might help as well. Just sayin..l.

As noted above, the connection between AGW (yes, there is no question about the 'A' part of that acronym) and increasing severity of tropical cyclones is fairly clear and becoming clearer...so anyone who participates in contributing is partially 'to blame for all that death and destruction'. That means, mainly, those in the first world (us), though the more 'successful' members of the second world tier are catching up to some extent...

Probably an order of magnitude of more responsibility should be placed on those who either a) deny or deliberately obfuscate the issue, or b) work to retard progress on attempting to limit the effects for the benefit of future generations.

Kinda seems like

"A top White House adviser affirmed Monday that President Donald Trump plans to withdraw from the Paris climate accord after confusion arose on the issue this weekend.
Gary Cohn, Trump's top economic adviser, reiterated during a morning meeting with climate ministers that Trump intends to follow through with the withdrawal unless there's a way to strike an agreement more favorable to the United States."

falls under 'b', so the general claim seems to be accurate...

While I sorta like one-liners like yours, as it tells me who and what I'm dealing with, it might fall under rule 2, depending on the interpretation of 'personal'

"Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated."

Thanks for your thoughts for or friends in Montserrat. They are hoping it stays compact and slips south of them right now. The wind field with the bad stuff will hopefully miss them but I fear the worst for the Southern US Virgins and Puerto Rico.

Dominica will be destroyed. Such a beautiful place with wonderful people. Wishing them the best.

And of course there will likely be billions of dollars redistributed to those in need from aid agencies who obtain their funds from those who have sufficient wealth to afford charitable donations.

So a lot of 'wealth redistribution' is already happening with a lot more to come, along with plenty of ongoing opportunities for those who profess concern to put their money where their mouth is (see, for e.g., atoll's link). But no matter what we might think or say, hurricanes & other natural disasters have afflicted mankind from the beginning of time and will continue to do so.

So how about we save the politics and allow this thread to serve as a hopefully helpful resource to those directly affected by these two new storms?

There are a couple of hiccups with the tying boats down, & or putting them into holes idea. That being, for both or either one to work, you need to move the boats a good 10m or more above sea level. So that they don't wind up trying to tear free of their land moorings when the storm surge, elevated sea levels, & floods from the storm rains arrive.
As if they even begin to regain a fraction of their buoyancy, the waves will hammer them into kindling, by bouncing them up & down on their keels. And there's naught strong enough on a boat to which to tie land anchors to in order to prevent them from moving if/when water reaches them.

Your cognitive powers and ability to draw conclusions, based on the above statement, certainly identifies you as someone who would vote for a candidate cutting climate research and denying global warming. Well done.

I just got word our boat survived Irma and Maria just fine, buried in her hole and strapped down with chain plates. There was no damage. We were very worried when the CAT5 Maria was predicted to cross St. Kitts but it slid oWest enough to reduce the wind speed to 100MPH and the boat survived. The dock was trashed but that will get fixed, and at least the boat can stay put until that repair is complete.
