Re: Firefly Batteries are now in stock!
Not at all relevant, just shares the word "carbon" and both are lead-based.
Firefly's patented chemistry is unique.

Re: Firefly Batteries are now in stock!
As Bruce said you can order them now if you think the extra shipping cost is worth it 8-)
Or, worst case, contact the home office (now in India?) and see what they say about you self-importing, but Caveat Emptor that route IMO, warranty handling will not be realistic.
Best route, convince a domestic vendor to sign up as a local distributor, IMO under Bruce's tutelage if he's willing. Maybe they could cover the Aussie market as well, y'all being such close neighbors [emoji6]

Re: Firefly Batteries are now in stock!
I know we've shipped Firefly batteries to a builder in OZ before, however not yet to NZ (AFAIK).
Several inquiries, but so far no potential stocking distributors have pulled the trigger.

Re: Firefly Batteries are now in stock!
Bruce is a known very-good trusted vendor, very helpful advice posted to the forums, selling an excellent and unique product that up to now required sitting on a long waiting list, so in-stock availability now is good news indeed.
Plus, a paid sponsor of the website. . .

They spec out the same and I can't find anything that shows any difference between the two brands. Do you have any links?

They come std with the batteries. Each battery is two 2-volt cells. If you want 4 volt, jumpers
Make your own with aluminum plate and heat shrink.

I'm not talking about superficial specs, but the internal chemistry formulation and completely unique performance under both PSOC and deep DoD conditions that are considered abusive with any other AGM.
Practical Sailor ran a test/research series by Nigel Calder and Maine Sail, and the latter I believe also posted an article to his marinehowto site, GIYF.

Re: Firefly Batteries are now in stock!
For those wondering about the differences between carbon-foam and other "carbon" batteries, attached is some info.
Yes, it's rather old document. And Kurt Kelley no longer works for Firefly (he lives here in Maine, advises us now & then, a great resource). Also, the factory has been moved to India where it took a while to get production going.
Which thankfully is finally really cranking along. So after years of waiting there are finally plenty available.

Re: Firefly Batteries are now in stock!
These seen to be the same tech as Firefly.
The PDF is mostly advertising but the chemistry seems the same as these lead carbon batteries. Am I missing some thing?

Re: Firefly Batteries are now in stock!
I believe Firefly's patent was only for the US and now has filings in several other countries , there will be products using carbon foam from other countries coming along.

I doubt it, not anytime soon anyway, and if ever, going to be inferior, unless maybe under licence.
