Hydrogenerators seem like a great way to recapture some energy from the wind with less noise than a wind turbine!

More solar power would be great for my batteries over winter!

Re: OCEANPLANET ENERGY GIVEAWAY - Ends 8/26

'Chantry Belle' is a 34ft Birchwood offshore motor cruiser that is presently moored near Barcelona, Spain. She is an old girl with twin Perkins HT6.354 engines and served by two banks of 12 x 2v Chloride submerged lead acid cells providing power for the 24v system (these also are long in the tooth).
I spend about half the year aboard at marinas and sailing in the western Batearic.
The day before I leave her to return to the UK I charge up the batteries, and every time I return they are down to 20-22v, without any load being switched on.
I plan soon to hang off the hook away from marinas and shore power and although I have an old but serviceable Farryman diesel genset am planning to convert to solar - especially to keep the batteries topped up while I am away, most especially to be able to rely on power for the bilge pumps in my absence.
I have been scouring CF for input from older seadogs and came across the competition, which led me to this -

The idea of flexible PV panels on my side and bow spray dodgers and/or on the coach roof has great appeal and has opened up yet another line of investigation.
Flexible PV - who'd 'a thought - so cool

All sailors need some solar imho, even as a small backup to device charging), and if you are going to do it, why not get the best - Solbian!

Thanks to Cruisers Forum and Ocean Planet for this opportunity. William

Add another one of the G31 Fireflys to my bank of 7. They are a game changer.

I think that this would be the best choice for my situation. Taking proper care of the batteries at hand. Thanks for the opportunity.
