Harbinger for things to come? Mine did the same thing. It would work intermittently and seemed to be related to humidity. First half the numbers disappeared and then reappeared to finally not displaying anything. Maybe you’ll be lucky.

The LED bulb I listed above is NOT the right size. The base is too big.

HI everybody.i have a tachometer for YANMAR 2GM20F and recently it shows RPM but no hours.i think the VIDEO for repairing will help me to fix it but i would like to know wher exactly is the sensor of tachometer.Imean the cable where is it conected to the engine.

Just wanted to report back on this.

As others have mentioned, once the display starts acting funny (on/off, flickering, etc.), it will eventually die — not a matter of if, but when.

When this happened to me at the end of this season, I followed the suggestions received here and ordered my replacement display from http://www.akspeedo.com/vdo-lcd-repair.php.

The great thing is that the replacement display comes with the connection strip already attached, so it’s as easy as swapping the old lcd with the new one. They also provide a video tutorial — really dumb-proof, even for someone like me haha!

Works just like new, I’m very satisfied of the results and the fact that the original engine hours are preserved.

The hour reading is in the instrument. The LCD strip just reads what is already there. No loss of hours as a result of replacement.
