Re: YachtBrain

People have done something similar w/a RaspberryPi and some basic sensors. The RPi was designed so children could learn how to work w/small computers and there is much on the web in how to set up various sensors. It will take more research (not much) to do/set up the RPi than purchasing an expensive Yachtbrain, but will be much easier on your wallet.

Re: YachtBrain

A little more thought about this and remembered that the free share OpenPlotter software already has programed in analog or digital sensors that could be added for remote monitoring. Plotter is an easy download and is designed for a RPi (ARM) computer.
The Plotter also supports OpenCPN to be used as a chartplotter w/a host of possible nav. inputs as well as Pypilot for an autopilot.
We set up our boat w/RPi(s) for a nav. computer and another for the pypilot brain. IMO these are as good or better than the more expensive brand name electronics currently being sold.
