wiring question

Ive been rewiring all of my nav lights with new LEDs. I purchased a weems and plath tri light/anchor light and it recommends 16/3 awg which I have (awesome) problem is the the wires from the light(s) are 24 awg. Ive been looking and looking for a step down 16 awg to 24 awg heatshrink wrap butt connector with absolutely NO success. I though about hodge podging an 18 awg wire between them with the connectors that are available but im unsure if that is acceptable , as im pretty sure I don't want to rely on a soldered mechanical connection. Ive seen advise saying to strip extra isle. off smaller wiring double it over and use a butt connector but im also not convinced this is strong enough. Do 16 awg to 24 awg step down shrink wrap connectors even exist?I can see why they wouldn't if low amperage LED's didn't exist but this is almost 2025! im getting a little frustrated please help

Re: wiring question

Check the Ancor catalog, they have step down butt connectors, May have to fold the 28 ga over and use shrink tubing over it. I was able to find them at West Marine.
