guys,
on my
Cape Dory 28 I intend to wire a new schema for
charging ... below is my idea of the new
concept and I would appreciate your comments/ideas
- two deep cycle
batteries -
engine and house
battery
- 3 way switch -1/2/both/off
- no shore cord or shore
charger
alternator output plus wire connected to selenoid on starter
motor which is in turn wired to the 3 way switch and then corresponding
battery
then I have
solar panel and
wind generator connected to blue
solar charge controller
-
BlueSolar MPPT 75/15 - Victron Energy
this contoller I plan to wire to the house battery
then I have intelligent battery combiner wired between positive terminals of both
batteries
-
Victron Cyrix Intelligent Battery Combiners
this setup should
work in my view as follows:
- I crank the
engine using only engine battery (position 2 on switch) - in this way the battery should be always fully charged ... if so, thanks to the battery combiner the house battery should get also some charge ... this is the most important aspect for me, to have engine battery always fully charged obviously
- if Im on the
anchor I switch only to the house battery to be used
- the house battery gets charge through solars and
wind generator and when its fully charged the engine battery gets also some charge through the battery combiner
how does this scenario sound to you? thank you very much for any suggestions, tomas
