Windlass control box 3 to 4 pole

Hello, is it possible to replace a lofrans 3 pole 12v with a 4 pole? What to do with the negative post? I can not find a 3 pole here. Any other ways to replace it?

Can’t you download the installation manual for your windlass?

In this case, the negative wire ought to go directly to your motor, no? Cable from battery to “common” terminal. Motor “up” and “down” cables to M1 and M2 terminals.

No. It depends on your windlass. Some lofrans are double poke double throw ( 4 pole) with negative on the 4th pole. Some are m1 energised for forward and m2 for reversed , and use a three pole ( actually two single relays in one package )
