Windbugger Wiring question

Trying out a new to me Windbugger. I've used other wind generators in the past and am used to being able to switch them off.

Has anyone here ever tried shorting the output leads via a switch to turn a Windbugger off. I have the original manual but it doesn't answer the question. I've seen WB's installed on other yachts that aren't constantly spining. I grasp that it has a high wind brake installed but I'm seeking a simple means to secure it without having to physically tie it off, especially in high winds. Any suggestions?

Thanks
