After criticising solar for years, high initial cost and low power output in real conditions. I want to reassess the position.
I do use a lot of power 100amps a day and I am not prepared to use less.
I like ice in my drinks and a medium size freezer for a choice of food.
I have a 2kva Kipor generator which currently puts out 40 amps/hour and will soon be upgraded to 80 amps and hour. Charging an 600amp/hr AGM battery bank

I realised solar is coming down in price and it very much depends on your cruising grounds. (tropical for me)
AirX wind generators seems popular?
Any comments?

Just by the way I did have a small problem with my Kipor, however the Australian agent fixed it in one day, under warranty. Excellent service.
Which these days is to be recommended.

Your power problems may go away. Your friends certainly will go away to the other side of the anchorage.

Ahhhhh the peace an bliss of an anchorage without Jetskis and wind generators....

I'm a big proponent of of wind plus solar, but that's because I often sail at night, and solar sucks in the dark. But if a powerboat is moving at night, the alternator(s) will do the work. Eh?

...if I'm sharing an anchorage with a powerboat, I'd much rather listen to your wind turbine than your diesel generator.

Genset. Alternator with a good external regulator.

Air X noisy (the new one still noisy and only half as powerful). D400 just as powerful as the OLD AirX, but pricey and way heavier.

Our solar gives us 4+ A per hour from 75 W panel (equals 25 Ah per day from 100W), silent and ZERO maintenance (7yrs).

If I had the roof space I would go for plenty of solar, some wind (?) and a good alternator/regulator - as I run the engine anyway.

If you are power hungry then the genset plus solars might be also a good combo.
