Where to find 3/8" disconnect with locking tab?

I'm looking for a 3/8" disconnect that has a locking tab that secures it into a plastic housing (that plugs into a relay). The wire gauge is 8 gauge plus a 14 gauge.Click image for larger version

Re: Where to find 3/8" disconnect with locking tab?

If I understand you want a crimp connector like the one in your photo but with a plastic cover that locks into some kind of fitting or housing?

Off the top of my head I'm not familiar with any generic plastic covers that lock into place. However, the connector itself is designed to lock into the male tab by very tight friction fit. Have used a lot of these over the years and when properly done, have never had one come loose.

You can order the regular connectors (no locking cover) with shrink tube over the crimp from Marine Wiring, Boat Cable and Electrical Genuinedealz.com

I'm looking for the exact female disconnect in the first post. It slides into this plastic housing and the little tab locks it in place. It's not your standard female disconnect available from the Napa.

Looking closer I see the little metal tab sticking out on the top photo. Had never seen one like that or never looked close enough to notice the tab.

A google search found several that look close to that:

Non-Insulated Locking Female Blade Crimp Terminals | 12 Volt Planet

.3125 Wide Packard 10 12 AWG Female Lock Tab Terminal - The Repair Connector Store

Hard to tell from the photos which has a lock but Digikey is a great source for all things electric.

Re: Where to find 3/8" disconnect with locking tab?

I'd be tempted to call Ancor and see if they have any idea. The sell an awful lot of terminals that are similar, but not identical.

I am a little worried about having two dramatically different wires crimped in the same barrel, if I understand this "installation" correctly...

Chuck

That's how the factory made the crimp. An 8 gauge and 14 gauge crimped together.

These are available from DigiKey. I needed a couple for the big relay in my fridge controller. The little tab is to hold the terminals in the plastic base. The problem is finding the right crimping tool.

The 'factory' may have done it but I'm with Chuck, seems a little unprofessional in the electrical world. However, if it has never given you problems and you're OK with it who are we to question..

Good news. One might almost say Digikey has anything you want electrical.

I switched to LED lighting and made a lot of it indirect, mounting light strips under shelves and cabinets. I wanted to add small switches next to the strips, some built in to the cabinets needed a long shaft to project through 5./8" panels, some flush mounted, and several other odd configurations.

Digikey had everything I needed. The only problem was that they had so many different switches it took me a while to sort through the choices.
