The simple answer is yes. Some countries follow ABYC standards. (for example Canada) Some countries use ISO.
But the truth is that ABYC is a
member of ISO and participates in most of the committees on standards for recreational
boats and many of their standards are similar to ABYC. In fact a few ISO committees have been or are currently chaired by ABYC members. But there are some variations. One is color codes. But ABYC has been harmonizing their standards with ISO. So the simple answer is yes, but.
You have to look at the individual standards and compare them to see if there are differences.
As for the question about the alternator, there are one wire alternators, and two wire alternators. If you have a one wire you don't need the ground. It is grounded through the case. If it's a two wire, you need a ground wire.
I think it has been established that this is a one wire.
