? Yellow /w Red Stripe?

Simi 60.

Although your alternator is called a one wire unit, if you have not had your fill of installation wiring quite yet, you would be much better off if you connect the Remote Sense terminal to the battery bank that the alternator charges. It's lead acid right?

All that is required is a few feet of 14 ga. wire, the 2 ring terminals and a 10A inline fuse mounted at the battery end.

This circuit tells the internal regulator what the actual voltage of the battery is without the voltage drop caused during charging in the high current wires.

The end result is that your LA batteries will get fully charged quicker, but not the lithiums downstream from the DC2DC charger.

Mind you, being a US build nta855m Cummins I would have thought the wire would be comply.

It's always at least an hour between stops so I'd like to think that'd get the starts up
And if not there is a Victron 12amp multistage charger attached as well - a left over from the years when we didn't have any alternator on the engine.

Re: Where did my Alternator ground go???

It is extremely important to have a direct and reliable (clean) ground path to your alternator! Remember the ground to the alternator/regulator is the return path for ALL the output current of the charging system. This includes both the battery current as well as connected loads during charge. It is likely the highest current carrying path in the system.

There's nothing forcing a non-US builder to follow ABYC standards. But I'd expect any good builder will follow at least someone's standard for how to do most things (whether it's ABYC or something else).

The simple answer is yes. Some countries follow ABYC standards. (for example Canada) Some countries use ISO.

But the truth is that ABYC is a member of ISO and participates in most of the committees on standards for recreational boats and many of their standards are similar to ABYC. In fact a few ISO committees have been or are currently chaired by ABYC members. But there are some variations. One is color codes. But ABYC has been harmonizing their standards with ISO. So the simple answer is yes, but.

You have to look at the individual standards and compare them to see if there are differences.

As for the question about the alternator, there are one wire alternators, and two wire alternators. If you have a one wire you don't need the ground. It is grounded through the case. If it's a two wire, you need a ground wire.

I think it has been established that this is a one wire.

Re: Where did my Alternator ground go???

Turns out my 33si is "special"

On further investigation the instruction manuals are incorrect for ours
The pic is not our alternator - ours has a heavy layer of paint filling in the letters but after giving it a scrape to reveal them, ours matches up with the pic and not the instructions.

I'm glad I triple checked.
We are getting no charge so need to flash the relay.
Touch positive to R or I the manual says.
Would've been interesting seeing as the R as shown in the manual pic is our actual neg.

Wired as per above
Flashed the field and saw the spark as per Delco video
Spun it up
No smoke came out
And seeing 27 volts at batts

Calling that a win.

Re: Where did my Alternator ground go???

If it fires up a second time (without needing the flash), then it is a win .

Glad to hear it worked out OK.

Notice that the neg post is insulated from the case, so this must be the isolated ground version.
