Re: What is the catch?
First point: 5000W Peak power. 2000W continuous.
Second point: Overload shutdown 13.2V What's the bulk input voltage of your battery charger
Third point. The initial quoted price is for the smallest inverter. When you actually select the 5000W one in the little pick list on the right, the price jumps to AU $238.34
(Very common practice on AliExpress - always click on the exact the model you are interested in , even before reading further down the page for the specs.)

The "catch" is basically everything in the description.
I have told multiple salesmen (they have all been men) something along the lines of, "If the first communication you ever had with me was a lie, why would I ever believe anything you said after that?"
Don't do business with someone who lies. Don't buy products that have to be lied about.

Re: What is the catch?
The catch is "aliexpress"
Do not ever expect to get what you pay for when buying from Aliexpress.

Re: What is the catch?
I just spent a couple of hours configuring some small electronic devices I bought from Ali. They all work great. If you're buying a commodity, and they're all made in China anyway, it doesn't really matter who you buy from.
That said, yeah, you need to know exactly what you're buying. It's often not what you searched for. They bundle multiple products in one listing, and you need to click on each to figure out the right one.

This!
I've also been quite happy with a number of things I have bought through AliExpress.
If the OP had done his due diligence, he wouldn't have needed to ask his question. All the facts are there.

In my experience, it's more a case of:
Expect to get what you pay for - but make sure you know exactly what it is you are paying for.

I hear what you say but so far I've bought about 20 items and they are exactly what I expected.
However I've just bought a multimeter for $A5.70 The cheapest I've bought elsewhere are over double that price. (I don't need an expensive multimeter as invariably I just check Voltage and Ohms (for continuity)i

I couldn't agree more.
I am very happy with the "ring pulls" and deck hatch latches.(They'd cost X5 times as much as buying from a chandler)

Yes! You can bet if I was seriously thinking of buying one I would have researched more thoroughly! (But it is still incredibly cheap. I don't know about the quality as I have no way of telling)
My latest buy (fuel level indicator) at $A42 is less than a quarter of the price bought locally.
