Westerbeke Help

That Westerbeke 3.5 SBCG generator has computer diagnostics for control and faults.

My guess is that the computer is not happy for some reason. If that guess is correct, then correcting the problem without understanding why the computer isn't happy is unlikely to succeed.

If this were my boat / generator, then I would get the Westerbeke P/N 055410 diagnostic kit for $200 to understand / correct this problem and to maintain this generator going forward. All this is shown in Page 30 to 35 of the Operator's Manual.

Meanwhile """I found the problem""".Removing the coil to test for spark I realized it had some crappy connectors on it and corrosion on the contacts. My guess is it was once replaced and they did a poor job with the connectors.

Also....... Looking at a EFI trouble shooting document I went to the relay panel and pulled and reset the connectors. They seemed OK..

I then cut out the suspect coil connectors and temporarily used wing nuts to reconnect. VIOLA IT STARTED and ran great.
I am so relieved.

I've been using the water proof heat shrink solder connectors on other items and i will use them here for a final repair. Going to clean all the relay terminals too and repair any other suspect connectors. ((there were some others that looked corroded.))
