Re: Westerbeke 8Kw suddenly totally DEAD

I had similar issues with my 7.6 kw. I found a wire from the remote start that had chafed and shorted out the 8 amp fuse and the two 40 amp relays. I taped up the short and replaced the fuse and relays with like relays from an auto parts store $5 not $35 factory and problem solved. If you want to talk let me know.

I am not sure I can bypass the reset button? How could something as simple as a reset button just freeze up and be totally non-functional all of a sudden?

Look or feel at the rear of the control box on the engine - the back side of the box, is there a toggle switch there? If yes, is it in the up position? If yes, try putting the two wires on that switch together.
