voltage mismatch weirdness

My water pump sounds like it is dying. It is old. It cycles yadda yadda rebuild or replace. It's a boat this sh1t3 happens. I go take a pic of it to find a new version etc, and I see that it is a 24 volt model!?!?! I have NO 24 volt systems on this boat. WTF!?!? I have not yet run a tester on the wires to see the voltage... that is coming up this weekend when I can really move stuff around and get down, twisted around, Stand on my head etc... BUT for now my question is... what would the 2 volt pump be running like on the 12 volt system? Would the pressure be half? OR?????

31595-0094 PAR-Max 2+
Voltage 24 (Vdc)
Amp Draw 2 (amp)
Fuse Size 7 (amp)
Cut-In 20 (psi)
1.4 (bar)
Cut-Out 40 (psi)
2.8 (bar)

Re: voltage mismatch weirdness

It would be drawing approximately double the current and perhaps take longer to reach the cut out pressures its set to.

Re: voltage mismatch weirdness

Very odd that someone would install a higher voltage (more expensive) pump on a 12 volt system. Might you have a converter on board that you didn't know about? Check the voltage on the circuit. If it's a 12 volt circuit, just replace with a 12 volt pump.

Re: voltage mismatch weirdness

Previous owner got it at a flea market. Didn't ready the label. A pump is a pump, right?
