Victron Quattro & Kohler Gen

Hello,

I am having a problem finding information about a new Kohler 20Kw (50Hz) generator with the ADC control we would like to buy.

We are also installing a Victron Quattro 8Kw/24v, and there is the 2 wire Alarm relay on the unit (as well as on the Blue Power Panel used to monitor the battery banks) that in theory should be able to connect to the Kohler "Advanced Digital Control" of the generator.

The main purpose is that when and if the battery bank falls below the set level, the Quattro or Blue Power Panel alarm relay will turn on the generator, and once the alarm relay opens, the generator will turn off like we had on an older Perkins genset we had on the last vessel.

The local Kohler sales people have not been able to answer this question, nor provide the diagrams and specs to assure us of this ability. I have attached the image of the general specs of the Kohler panel saying it can work, but when I ask them if the connections must be tapped into on the main wire loom or is there a connection on the back of the panel, no one knows. I have also attached the image of both.

The other thing that I asked them was that if I have a remote start switch at the main breaker panel on the main deck for the Kohler GenSet, and then have the Victron connected as well, would this result in conflicting information to the control and perhaps damage the control... No One Knows.

I can't believe I am the fist one to do this on a vessel !

Does anyone have a working knowledge of the new Kohler ADC and the Victron Alarm relay connections, as well as having the remote start/hour counter working together ?

Thanks,

Alan

Hello

I found the answer

Kohler has a 12 pin "Y" adapter that make a 3-war type switch.

Every generator manufacturer has these features

I did not know this...
