Victron battery charger questions

Good day.

I have two chargers on-board:

1. Victron 50amp Phoenix 12v (universal, any input, output or freq)
2. Victron 30amp Centaur 12v (universal)

I have two battery "banks":

1. 2 x 12v 152Ah house batteries (sealed) wired in parallel
2. 1 x 12v 780CCA starting battery

Here's the issue, the Phoenix charger draws power from the shore-power connection only (50amp after all), and it charges the house batteries and the starter battery at the same time.

The Centaur charger draws power from a simple extension cord, and is used where there is no proper shore-power system, just isolated transformer boxes (10amp - 230v). The Centaur only charges the house batteries.

At my current marina, I must only use the Centaur, so my starter battery only gets charged when I run the motor.

I am almost certain that the Centaur is capable of charging both the banks, much like the Phoenix. If this is indeed the case (question #1), then do I have to do anything other than run the wiring? Do I have to re-programme the charger? (question #2).

Thank you in advance, let me know if you need more details.

Re: Victron battery charger questions

Hello,

Remove the 4 screws on the lower face of the Victron centaur. You will see 4 posts. 3 are for the positive that will go to 3 individual 12v banks as you want. The fourth post is for the negative that connects to all banks.

If you go to VictronEnergy website, you can download the install and operators manual for complete details.
