Victron 220/110 Lithium upgrades.

I have a 2023 FP ISLA 40 with 240v 50hz power, 5KW gen set, one 240v AC, 400 AMP of AGM batteries, 1400W solar.

I am looking into upgrading to lithium, install one AC to run off battery at night and maybe covert from 240v to 120v outlets so that I can use/buy American appliances.

I received a quote from a Victron dealer for $20k in hardware alone and was just wanting to get some feedback on it.
  • (4) Victron Energy BAT512132410 Smart Lithium Iron Phosphate
  • (2) Victron Energy LYN060102000 Lynx Distributor
  • (1) Victron Energy LYN034160200 Lynx Smart BMS 500
  • (1) Victron Energy BPP900455050 GX Touch 50
  • (1) Victron Energy QUA123020010 Quattro 12/3000/120-50/50 230V VE.Bus special order 230 Volt
  • (2) 50A Universal Input Battery Charger
  • (1) Velair Compact i10VSD SMART Marine Air Conditioner Unit - 115V - 10,000 BTU (Generation 2)
  • (2) Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30A (360W) Non-isolated DC-DC charger [ORI121236140]
  • (1) Victron Energy PIN123020100 Phoenix Sine Wave Inverter 12/3000 120 Volts

Debating if it's worth spending nearly $30k with install to do all this work. I def want to get the lithium batteries but not sure it's smart to convert the boat to 120v or if I should just pay the premium for 240v appliances here in the USA.

Long term, I am not sure what I will do with the boat. I may just stay in the USA/Bahamas/Caribbean or I could end up taking it to SE Asia.

Thoughts or suggestions on this?

Re: Victron 220/110 Lithium upgrades.

I am also planning to upgrade my electrical to Victron. One of the major cost is the battery bank. There are other good batteries that work with victron equipment cheaper. I am also planning to add AC units but I am thinking on 12v units. Originally was planning for 24v but that creates another problem 2 dc bus bars.

Then it comes the recharging do we have enought solar/windmill/alternator to recooperate next morning? Then if I ever need a jump start or buy a battery in a rush 24v are not that easy available here in the caribean. Then all the AC voltage is comonly 110V.

I have an excel(got fromanother sailor) where I plott all my aprox consumption during a passage and anchoring. The power can go on passage to 2300 watts.

so many things to figure out when making a $$ decition

My 2 cents.
1. If you are buying pre made battery's, you are paying a HUGE premium. Making a battery bank from cells is easy. Plenty of YouTube videos to show you how.

2. I would recommend a 48 volt bank and inverter for high loads and also cheaper MPPT's because you need less current output.

If you are going to use 120volt/60hz appliances, I would think you will have to pull new wire from the inverter to the galley to support the different voltage. Something else to consider.

Re: Victron 220/110 Lithium upgrades.

If you make your own batteries you better have a marine electrical cert or your insurance will likely never pay you.

The estimate is reasonable for what it is. Buy the best hardware and do the install, yourself. Paying someone $150/hour to route cable and make crimps is crazy.
