Problem probably solved. I went to the next marine chandlery, bought the cheapest inline blower they had and mounted it on top of the alt blowing down. Would have been probably better to blow from below, but i couldn't find a good position for it.

Nevertheless, when testing again the temperature didn't rise above 85 deg C with the fan running, even without an external intake for cold air. I also had the impression that output levels increased a little bit, even if the fan now takes off 3 Amps.

135 is pretty hot. for example the balmar reg temp sensor kicks in at 108C to lower alt output. 85 seems much better.
