Variable Pitch Wind Generator

I think a variable pitch blades wind generator is a good idea. Starts at slow wind and less problem which strong wind. Two I have found are Vortex and Air Marine. Air Marine seems to have problems but all the posts I read were old. I have not seen any new posts or reviews about the Air Marine variable pitch wind generator. Any one have experience with this generator?

Re: Variable Pitch Wind Generator

A big problem with all wind generators is what to do with the power when it starts to blow.

Short:

The Air Marine has fixed blades. It has its max power at 12,5 m/s, 400 W. When it starts to blow more than that, it transforms the power to “noise”.

It has been replaced with Air X. It has its max power at 12,5 m/s. When it blows more then 10 m/s, it shuts of. It has very little difference on the monthly energy sense it seldom blows that much.

There has come a newer version named Air Breeze. The biggest difference it that the blades are white. It still shuts of at 10 m/s but now they have taken down the stated max power.

All of these have fixed blades.

There exist a German wind generator named Super Wind. It has its max power at 12.5 m/s, 360 W. When it blows more than that it change the pitch of the blade and the output power remains 360 W. They stated that it shall remain 360 W up to 55 m/s !

Re: Variable Pitch Wind Generator

FWIW: 12.5 m/s = roughly 28 mph or 24 kts
