I currently have a Victron BMV 6025 batterymonitor. Can I leave the existing gauge and just add a SmartShunt monitor? It saves me nearly £50 (compared to the BMV712 package). I dont need the gauge as I will use the app.
Your question is unclear. The SmartShunt does not require a readout as it utilizes BT.
Noted. To clarify, I was curious as to whether the old gauge would work (or cause problems) with the smartshunt. I want the BT function so the loss of the gauge is ok.

Besides the display, the SmartShunt also lacks the programmable relay.
I always recommend a BMV for each battery.

OP: The short answer is “no”.
The original BMV602S shunt communicated via UTP cable to the BMV602S readout. The SmartShunt utilizes VE.Direct cable to communicate with external devices.
