Underwater lights

I've searched threads and cannot find input on whether LED underwater lights should be 'on' 24/7 to minimize marine growth on the lens. Heard bar stories to that effect, but have not seen forum opinions.

Don't know about on or off, but this Propspeed Lightspeed is an amazing product and any growth just wipes off.

On the down side, the stars get streaky when turning on the lights.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one with them on 24/7, I think that would be kinda distracting

considering how much power they draw they won't be on for long away from the dock...

Since much of the fouling is photosynthetic, perhaps leaving the lights on will increase the growth... dunno about what part of t he spectrum is involved, though.

But dare I say that anything that increases growth will reduce the annoyance felt by the other folks in an anchorage, especially if it completely blocks the light...
