Nonsense. I am aware of liquid resistors used in a controlled manner..

I am not the one advocating putting a couple of wires in open seawater to create a resistor of unknown value. Who here is the dangerous one?

FWIW (Not much, IMO):
The electrical resistance of water is about:
Sea water = 0.2 Ω/m (Ohms per meter)
Drinking water = 2 to 200 Ω/m
Deionized water - 180000 Ω/m
The electrical characteristics of water is usually measured by "Conductivity", which is usually measured in micro- or millisiemens per centimeter (uS/cm or mS/cm). Conductivity is formally defined as the reciprocal of resistivity.
Sea water has a conductivity of about 50 mS/cm (or 50,000 μS/cm).
