In regards to the Superwind, in higher winds...
I'm in St Augustine, sitting at
anchor, through "hurricane" Nicole. I've got
solar and a
Marine Kinetix
wind generator, but due to heavy cloud cover, and high winds, I'm stuck with very little renewable energy. The
Marine Kinetix shuts down above 28 knots of
wind, and the
solar is severely limited in heavy cloud cover.
Is there anyone out there with a Superwind 350, sitting through Nicole, or some other
wind event, that can speak to the functionality of their wind generators?
I'd like to know if it continually puts out 350W in high winds, (when the
batteries are low) as the
charts seem to show, and whether or not it gets noisy when the blades feather in higher winds.
I'm mostly interested in winds between 30 and 50 knots. Under 30 knots, I'm told they're very quiet, and over 50 knots I couldn't hear a freight train over the wind anyway.
I know the D400 is able to output in higher winds, but I'm only interested in the Superwind units.
Thanks.
Paul.
